With war in Iraq, high gas prices, millions of home foreclosures nationwide and lack of support from the government how do we survive in America or a better question is “Where do we go from here?” It’s obvious that most of us were not prepared for this sudden slow down in the American economy but even more we were not prepared to see our government lack of priority to help the country see it’s way back in the right direction. Its been all talk coming from our government officials who seem to be satisfied with pacifying the public with probabilities and statistics prolonging the idea of change while the people bare the burden as the economy worsens. The problems we are experiencing have been brewing for yrs. Once government decided it would be good for companies to save a buck and stack chips for it’s shareholders, shipping factoring overseas and outsourcing Jobs to other countries Americans should have recognized that the fuse was lit and it would be a matter of time before things hit the fan but even worse our pockets. Big business forgets that they wouldn’t have gotten big without the labor and hard work from past generations who stood strong for America thru segregation, depression, war and peace. As businesses steadily merge into superpowers the noose around the American Dream tightens and is becoming less and less of a reality for most hard working citizens. With many Americans having little or no health care, the cost of education overwhelmingly high and government assistance overwhelmingly low you have to ask what is our Governments main focus.

I am not speaking for the lazy pessimist who doesn’t try to improve his/her situation for this divide between the Have and the have knots has tremendously effected what was once considered the middle class and has crumbled the American spirit. Media outlets such as MSNBC talk about the high voter turnout and how it is unprecedented but they fail to mention that this consistent pimp slap put on the American people is also unprecedented. As much as the majority of Americans are considered “sheeple” and not people, they are fed up.

So now that the “Haves” have even more and the “Have Knots” much less. Most of us realize that despite race, gender or age we are on our own. Yet we must stick together for our government to give us our proper respect and not view us as useless consumers used as a tool for big business. We love how far our country has come and the amazing sacrifices that each generation made for us to live as we do today. I think it’s valid to ask if our country loves us. I look at the White house as the home of the people all the houses beyond that are its’ children venturing out from there parents to make a life of their own? Parents want the best for their children and will do all they can to assure they have the opportunity to succeed but our White house seems to not care about it’s citizens(children) unless they contribute to there campaign or are in the 1 tenth of 1% tax bracket. Makes you wonder what all the research and studies conducted over the last century on people from all levels of life was for? Were they just out to find a better way of controlling the masses? It’s become very clear that it is not about what you know but who you know and the fleecing of America is worse than any other time in history. It’s not the end of the American dream and I as an American surely know the playing field will be leveled but how long will it take and at what cost?
